Going to math conferences is a full time job

Like math? Like meeting other people who like math? You're in luck: There are over 500 conferences planned in 2014 for math lovers, all over the world.

The most popular subject area is geometry and topology, with 80 conferences planned, led by the U.S.A. with 26, Germany with 13, and South Korea with 12.

One thing about which Americans can be proud: For virtually every math topic, from logic to modeling to pattern recognition, the United States hosts more conferences than any other country.

What a great idea for a vacation: Plan your travel to Croatia, Finland, Japan, or Barbados and see what it's like to attend a math conference. COMS maintains a comprehensive list.

A unique new year's resolution.
